less than 2k miles before problems.

fluid history - 38,123 service - 4 qts
64,519 service - 4 qts
90,580 service - 4 qts
127,154 flush - 12 qts
183,488 service - 4 qts
260,220 service - 4 qts
295,237 flush - 10 qts
(I had the mileage wrong before).

I did not decide, the dealer said it was factory scheduled maintenance.

My daughter, 48, is a turtle driving lol. No tickets, etc. She parked it and called me when it started.

I wouldn't be waltzing into the dealership without proof. I have the invoice clearly showing they charged me for 10 qts
of World Standard fluid @ $9.45.

I suppose the odds are high that they SHOULD HAVE used the correct fluid, however, it is clear from the invoice they did not.

I intend to drain a sample out to have if testing becomes necessary(meaning they refuse to take ownership of this situation they caused).

I will have to find where to send for testing.

Thanks everyone for information, thoughts, and experiences in the responses.

Alan
Alan, It wasn't my intention to **** you off if that's what I did but it always helps to post this kind of information right off the bat to get the best response out of any internet forum.

Knowing that they listed the wrong type on the invoice I would follow RKW's advice and at least get a sample to have on hand in case they try to play any games with you. Keep us posted with the resolution please. Thanks...

flush versus drain/fill.....the stuff of endless debates, and beside the point. They clearly used the wrong fluid, their fault.
guess i'm naive...i would not have thought to take a sample in case they play games.

please do update us, i'm especially curious to see if the tranny performs OK after the correct fluid is used, as I suspect it will.

Gronemus,

Absolutely you did not, sorry if I conveyed that. I appreciate your response more than I can say.

Please accept my sincere thanks for your insight and thoughtful information relative to this situation.

I went through almost the exact same thing. Went in for drain/fill and the wrong fluid was used. Tranny was jerking hard, shuddering and riding bad. The invoice even said the wrong fluid was used. However the service writer was trying to tell me they did that to give me a discounted price. After more than a few phone calls to corporate and the dealership, they ended up doing a complete flush with new fluid and I haven't had a problem since (almost 30k miles).

Default Update - Two good news items

I have two good news items that I would like to share with the forum.

First, about the transmission problem:

The Lexus dealership took total ownership for the problem.

They replaced the transmission with a factory rebuilt unit at no charge.

This was at Lexus of Chattanooga.

Secondly, good news that kinda puts things in perspective, and the reason for the late post update.

I had prostate cancer surgery last week, and the pathology report just came back verifying I am now cancer free.

I continue to wish you all the best, and thank you for your responses.

Congrats on the biggest priority.....your health!

I hate that C word. I cringe every time I hear it.
