Hey all
Very disappointed to report, no deal. As it was well put above, I had to go by my gut. Once I got it on a main road at hit 50mph, gut said “no.” It had quite a bunch of shimmies and rattles, as well as a road noise my ES doesn’t even have. I suspect a dodgy crash repair or something. But regardless, gut said no
I am absolutely never going to consider an LS for daily use unless it’s a 8-10 year old one with 70,000 or so. I think I want to find a cherry ls400 or ls430 for fair weather enjoyment BUT NOT to depend on for daily use, as it’s just to much wear and tear on a car with high parts costs that I love. I already
Felt awful about driving this one in snow. This adventure showed me that a 3.5LS or a 1LS fixed up to perfection and tucked away in the garage is the way to go. A 4LS (or any 10 year old one) as a daily driver would be fine, too when I have the means to pay cash for one.
Bottom line, my ES is in way better shape and very nice. Turns out I’m somewhere between “meticulous” and “ocd” and it’s an anomaly that a 16 year old car has no mechanical issues and a near perfect interior. Now that I’m keeping it, it will probably have a perfect exterior soon, too.
I did LOVE the 4ES when it was being made, and loved the 2003 I briefly had before trading it for our odyssey. My 2002 is a lovely car and would be very inexpensive to get 300,000 miles from.
