Default Low Tire Light Direct System Malfunction

Zero codes show up on my 06 LS for the Low Tire Light. I have reset this issue 3 or more times and checked tire pressure 3 times. All indicators tell me it is a system problem/coding issue? Does
anyone have suggestions how to correct the issue - after resetting the light, it will reappear within 10-15 minutes of drive time? The 06 has no tire sensors - no the issue.

Try and unhook your negative battery terminal for 20 mins and see if it comes back on.

Are your tires in good shape? I recall seeing some information from Lexus service where the inside of the tires were worn due to camber/alignment.

The out of whack tires caused the low tire pressure light to come on. Essentially they wore badly to different sizes. New tires and an alignment fixed the issue.

Have you tried to re-initialize the TPMS system? Follow the guides posted here in this thread (Post #11) before trying anything else:

Default Low Pressure Indicator Continues

Thank you for all of your replies. I have new tires and recent alignment, I have disconnected negative battery terminal - that removed the indicator light for 2.5 days, after resetting TPMS. Issue just returned - just hate the idea of going to Lexus. I wonder if anyone specializes in coding who can reset the malfunction? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just to be clear, did you also Initialize the system, not just reset it???

I literally had the identical problem. You need reinitialize, not just reset. The exact instructions have been shared on this forum, so do a search to be sure. They key is to begin with your car running, then turn your key to the "ON" position, then hold the reset button. Wait 5-10 seconds and you should an initialization message on your dash.

These cars use the same TPMS "system" as the 2004-2010 Siennas that doesn't really work with run-flat tires(and Toyota got into hot water with this) - it's not a true system using pressure transducers and a radio transmitter in the wheels. It uses the ABS/VSC system to gauge pressure differences via how fast/slow each wheel is turning. If the ABS and VSC systems work fine, the TPMS portion needs to be initialized.

You need to turn the car on, press the TPMS button until you see the initialization message appear and disappear and then go on a drive for at least 30 minutes. Set your cold tire pressures first before doing this.

To support your argument, here is an example of a tire which looks brand new but has internal damage which triggers Low Tire Warning.

Aired up my spare but still getting the low pressure warning. I can watch it run through the “checking” phase.

Spare tire doesn't get checked by the tire sensing system used in the LS430. Low pressure is determined by the car sensing each wheel rotation speed and comparing the results. No pressure sensors in the tires.

Please note that the LS430 TPWS has 2 operations: Initialize and Reset

Initialize: Let's say you decided to install 18" wheels for the front and 20" wheels for the rear. You can "Initialize" your TPWS to see this as "normal". Your TPWS will monitor your 4 wheels (right front = 18", left front = 18", right rear = 20", left rear = 20") individually, and activate the warning light if any one of the 4 wheels deviates from the "normal". Supposed if a small leak was the culprit, and you had it fixed. All you have to do in this case is to "Reset" the TPWS and it will continue to monitor the 4 wheels based on the current "normal" (right front = 18", left front = 18", right rear = 20", left rear = 20").

Later if you decide to have 18" wheels all around, of course you will have to "Initialize" again to set the new "normal" as (right front = 18", left front = 18", right rear = 18", left rear = 18").
