Default Drivers seat pad

New member here, just picked up a 2005 Ls430. The car has heated and cooled seats. I want to replace the drivers seat pad. I can’t tell if part no 71512-50150 has a pad with holes to allow cool air to flow to the seat. The parts sites say this pad is for “base model” and the illustration does not show holes. Can someone tell me if this is the correct pad or if not what the correct number is? Thank you.

unless you are getting a stellar deal on it dont buy the oem pad just go to a reputable upholstery shop and they should have the foam or whatever you need to do in stock.

Well, my upholstery shop did not want to do the job because he thought that his foam would block the air holes. His recommendation was to use an OEM pad. So, I either try a different shop or use the correct OEM pad. I don’t mind spending $$ to get the right pad.

It looks very easy i would go to another upholstery shop I think the one you went to just does not want to do it. The worst he would do is cut holes in his own foam to match the oem Lexus seats

that thread is on a gs and will not work on a ls430.the ls430 has to have the seat removed to get the seat cushion off.
No access to the inboard pan bolt with the center console in.
You will also need hog rings and a hog ring tool.

Ok cool man thanks for clarifying that I found that link on an old ls430 post and did not know there was a difference, but does the foam look the same though?

Replaced pad on my '02UL and was very happy with the result. My advice is to call or visit a Lexus dealer and speak to the parts person. Give him your VIN and he will give you the proper part number. You can then call Lexus of S Atlanta or any of the other online part dealers for the part. Always patronize an outlet that will check your VIN to confirm proper fit.

Oem pad is no softer in my car. Replaced the passenger side...still hard as a rock. Needs a bigger foam overlay. You’ll see the layout when the part arrives.

Has anyone thought about doing a memory foam retro fit or something of that nature to soften up the seat?

Excellent question. I had this done on a set of GMC Denali seats with excellent results. The difference was significant. The memory foam provided extra shock absorption so you never felt like it completely compressed. If someone has a “How To” on removing the front climate seats I’ll talk to my custom upholsterer.

I think you need to remove the entite seat out of the car to access the bottom seat cushion, also were are you located? Also how was the the memory foam I would deffinetly like to know, as well as the longevity of it.
