2006 LS430 is probably the finest quality factory build car ever made. I would absolutely keep it for at least another 5 years, and that is exactly what I am going to do with mine. Most of us will likely never own a better built, more reliable car than a well maintained 01-06 LS430.

Default "Do I need to get a new Lexus"

Just thought I'd update you. I posted this questions 2/18 when I had 113,000 miles on my 2006 LS430. Most replies suggested I keep the car and keep up with the maintenance. That's what I decided to do. I now have 128,000 miles on it and minus some slight cosmetic issues, my car still runs like a dream. I am too spoiled with the comfort and style of this car and don't like the new grills on the new models. Sticking with my baby and continuing to pamper her.
Stay safe everyone.

I am up to 244K now and late last year went from 17" to 18" wheels (when I had to get new tires anyway so why not?) and with the new tires the ride is excellent. Not going out much given the situation but did drive up to Lake Tahoe end of August and the drive was pleasant.

Interesting. Glad you've got an even more comfortable ride.

I have 113,000 miles on my car and have kept up with all the maintenance and have had very minimal issues. Did the 90,000 maintenance replacing timing belt and whatever else book said to do and do regular synthetic oil changes and have the car checked over before each trip. Just got four new tires this year.

My battery did die twice without warning, didn't even get a click on the ignition, couldn't even turn the key, but remedied with a new battery. Was told by the local mechanic that batteries in Florida general last 2 years, so I will plan on checking my battery health at the 18 month mark.
My car did break down once on the road, but fortunately, it was a week after I made my 1500 mile journey. The alternator had to be replaced for $650.00. I periodically get the scary red triangle which always seems to be a false alarm. Sometimes the ignition switch won't move but if I adjust the steering wheel it's fine.

So......how does this sound? Will my car make it to 200,000 miles or should I consider getting a new car, which I really can't afford but want to be safe?

Thanks for your input, very much appreciate this site.
The scary red triangle is just an odometer based warning light that comes on once every 5,000 miles to remind the driver to get the oil changed. It has absolutely no other sensors attached to it. Its only job is to count up 5,000 miles from the last time it was reset so it can light up again to scare all LS430 drivers.

Car batteries in Florida lead a tough life. Hearsay to the contrary, excessive heat (not cold) is what damages and kills batteries. Get your battery tested before any long trip unless it is brand new. A little unusual for your alternator to need replacement so early - might be associated with weak and dead batteries, but just guessing. Could have just been a weak alternator from the start.

The key seeming to be stuck in ignition sometimes is common on every LS430, just turn/jiggle wheel slightly left or right as you turn key, and it will turn. Mine has been doing the same thing for 11+ years.

If you maintain your car by the book and it sounds like you do, and drive it gently, and if its garaged, so rubber and plastics don't excessively deteriorate, it will be extremely reliable for 200k+ miles.
