Today I was going for a drive and when I started the car the radio would not work, after about 5 min of driving it started working normally. Then I could not switch from the radio to the cd player. After a few more in I was able to, then it switched from the cd play to the radio on its own and was playing both the radio and the cd player at the same time? What the hell is going on?

Hi AWD and Sherry. Welcome to the club. Does your car have the Navigation screen?

Mine does but nothing is working, I can not turn on the rear defrost, the blower motor speeds can not be adjusted along with the temp, the outside temp display is blank and the radio is not working. The screen is simply blank and when I hit the climate button is just says check connection of air conditioner. Normally after a few minutes everything starts working but its going on 2 days now and we got a snow storm tonight and I will not be able to drive the car without the heat working.

I don't hear about too many of these touch screens failing, but on occasion they do.
There's a couple of videos on YT on how to diagnose the screen

Here's a thread on issues with the screen. Sorry I couldn't be more assistance

Not really sure what other choice I have. Nobody seems to be able to offer advice as to where to start. After a ton of research the only conclusion I have come to is that this problem happens. It could be any number of issues and they all seem to be component related.

When I started my car, the NAV screen was often dim. It often took 3-5 minutes to fully light up. Had it pulled it out, cold tested and connects resoldered. End of problem for the rare occasion that I use the display. Normally I just keep it shut off.
