Default rattling Noise

2006 Lexus LS 430 - I started hearing a rattling noise around the pulleys. What can this be? my gauges are fine . Temp on motor is fine. Coolant is fine.

The LS430 has 2 sets of pulleys - one set driven by the timing belt, and the other by the serpentine belt.

I would suggest to start your troubleshooting with the easier one - the serpentine belt. Remove the belt (see sketches below) and rotate each of the pulleys by hand.

No, they are not a common problem for the LS430.

I'm prepping to do the timing belt on my 2005 soon, and the idler pulley for the serpentine belt squeaks a little when the engine is cold. After a few minutes it does quiet down, but it will definitely be replaced when I do the timing belt, along with the serpentine belt.
