Default Bicycle in the Trunk

Does a bicycle fit in the LS430 trunk? Please share any photos and details if you have loaded a bike in the trunk.

For my scenario, yes.

I tried searching for this information before I purchased and just ended up risk losing being able to transport my bicycle in order to have an amazing daily driver. Well luckily for me, it still fits.

Car:
2005 Ultra Luxury

Bike:
56.5" frame
700cm wheel
removed the front wheel, it barely fits

Unless I'm missing something, I think you may have answered your own question...

Yeap. I just wanted to create a thread so future possible owners can search and find the answer.

I have a $35 Allen trunk mount bike carrier. I keep that in my trunk. It attaches in about 30 seconds.

I also have a Brompton folding bike. That bike fits quite nicely in the trunk of my LS. I could probably get 3-4 Bromptons in.

Of the bike rack or the Brompton folding bike?

Amazon Amazon

This is the bike rack I have. Looks like the price is up. I've had mine for 5+ years.

I have a 58cm/700c. Doesn't fit if I pull the front wheel. Nothing able to take a bike is a pain. Brompton is a great idea. Carry on if you fly. Time to go shopping.

I don't have any photos of my bike on the Allen rack. We have gotten 12+ inches of snow in the last week or so here. Spring feels a long way away.

I actually have two of the Allen Sports racks. Bought the second for $5 at a garage sale in my neighborhood. Identical to my previous. I let my oldest kid use it for hauling her bike around.

A $50 rack or a $1,600+ Brompton. Tough choice. :-)

Yeah, I've just heard too many stories about bikes flopping around hitting the car and the rack damaging the trunk. Not that specific rack, but those trunk mounted racks in general.

The only accessory with my rack is a medium length bungee cord. I place the inside pedal against the bike rack frame. Then I loop the bungee cord through the front wheel, around the bike frame seat post and then through the bike rack. Hook the bungee cord ends to themselves. This keeps the front wheel from turning, wheel from spinning an bike from moving on the rack. No flopping and the bike cannot touch the car.

My favorite solution is to leave my car at home and just ride the bike.

The trunk closes just fine with my bike if the front tire is removed. Without removing the front tire, you'll need some rope and/or bungee cord. I've transported 2 bikes at once on several occasions, don't recall if the trunk closes if both tires are removed. I think it was easier to just tie the trunk down instead of removing the tires off both bikes.
