Default 94 octane and ethanol

The Canadian owned gas station PetroCanada sells 94 octane gas here in Ontario, and I believe ( and I could be wrong ) they are the only ones. I usually only fill up at Shell because I believe ( and I could be wrong here too ) they are the only ones who claim to have no ethanol added to their gas.

So I filled up with 94 octane for the first time today and my car runs better on 94 octane gas with ethanol. Smoother at idle, idles lower and extremely quite all of a sudden. It's definitely noticeable.

Not sure it's worth paying $ 0.13/gallon more - which is 16% more but damn it sounded so nice and quiet.
OR .... Maybe the car runs better in the cold winter WITH ethanol ? Shell gas may be on the way out !

I am currently in the process of seeing if I can get a piggy back ecu to get the ls430 to run on e85, I would also upgrade the stocl 275cc injectors to 400-600cc, upgrade the fuel pump to an aem 310lph, but I would like to know how much of a gain running the ls430 on e85 would do for hp and tq, and if it would justify the cost.

That is weird though because ethanol and cold weather do not mix if you have a car that runs e85 anything below 50°F and it gets really difficult to start. Also the ethanol burns way more cleaning than traditional gasoline so that is probably why your car runs smoother with the eth./gas fuel.

How is your car do cold start wise with the non ethanol fuel vs the ethanol/gas fuel?

There is absolutely no issue with starting the car in the winter with this...after all, at most there's only 10% ethanol (E10) in it. In addition, in Canada, all fuels from this manufacturer has an additive in the winter called WinterGas.

This gas is also Top Tier certified.

This is all I use....oh and Stu? If you have a Petro Canada points card and link it up with your RBC bank/debit card, you automatically get 2.5 cents off per liter instantly on every fill up.

I run our local 98+E10 down here when I have to do so, and to be honest I really don't notice any difference between that and other pump fuels without any Ethanol. The previous owner reckoned it went better on the E10 fuel, but I can't see any difference. If anything it just uses more gas given the lower caloric value of Ethanol
