Default Mystery: what is this and where does go?

i looked around and see no obvious home for this. It was in my trunk, but there’s no home for it there. Hoping some of the more experienced LS members can help direct me.

It covers the rear of the front sear rails which are bolted to the floor. Move the front seats forward and check out the back seat floor and you should see the expose ends of the front seat rails and that is where your mystery piece will fit.

That's too funny. When I bought my 2001, I found that exact same piece in my trunk, and I looked all around the car trying to figure out where it went. Finally gave up and placed it in the garbage can and sent it on it's way...

Thank you! I’m one of those guys that wants all the pieces and parts exactly where they belong! This would have driven me crazy until the next time I vacuumed!
