Default Does my motor sound normal to you?

I took a quick video . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNztYYQB7lE&feature=youtu.be

Sound is coming from right side of engine. Youtube made the audio a bit funky but its the higher pitch, almost pneumatic sound, like a chugging sound. Does this sound normal to other owners?

I just purchased this 05 LS430 with 101k miles.. The shop that did the timing belt at around 95k miles is sketchy and I plan on just having it redone (they didn't even do the water pump..) So this could be in relation to that, just odd that its definitely focused on the right side near the cylinder bank.

I don't hear anything highly disturbing. I'll have to try and record mine to make a comparison.

As far as the timing belt, Lexus calls out to replace the timing belt only at 90K miles or 9 years only. They mention nothing about the water pump, idlers, serpentine belt, tensioner, etc. needing replacement. Many owners do decide to replace those items anyway at the same time in order to save on labor cost since it is relatively easy to change those other parts...

Sounds like maybe an exhaust manifold has a leak or the gasket near that it the cat is leaking.

Interesting you say that. Less than an hour from my original post, during my commute home, I noticed the CEL and VSC lights on. Car was acting running and shifting fine so I got it home and pulled the OBD2 reading:

P0455 Evaporative Control System Leak Detected (gross Leak)

First relevant thread I found with the same code: Link

End result with that guy was he had a disconnected egr valve.

I was able to reset the code and make it not display after a restart. I'm thinking in my case since I know it just had a timing belt done, by a somewhat sketchy shop.. I called to verify timing belt change, first guy told me no they just checked and advised to get one, next time I called the owner answered and said that they had found a record of them in fact actually doing the TB. Even weirder.. I had a post a few days ago about an LS 430 I was considering buying, which is this one. Link The seller appeared to have lied about the record of the timing belt.

The seller possibly got the car back, noticed a botched job, the shady shop wouldn't stand behind their work, decided to sell and I now have it LOL.

I've owned an LS430 before, a 2002 and a can't EXACTLY remember the way it sounded.. but as soon as I heard this one I thought it was a bit off. I think that off sound coupled with this error code + the fact there is some weirdness going on with the shop/previous owner about the timing belt means its gonna need a new TB at minimum.

While I'm at it.. any 100k+ mile owners get their engine mounts replace? If so was it worth it? If I am going to have it in the shop for a new TB service I'm thinking of doing the mounts too. That along with a fresh alignment and balance and she should be fit to cruise for awhile.

I've had two LS430, first one with 135k and currently one 122k, and never had the engine mounts changed nor hand any reason to suspect I needed to.

I plan to replace the engine and tranny mounts. My 05 has a little vibration at idle. Indy will do for 600. My 01 was completely insulated from any engine motion. One of the many reasons I own an LS

Just curious, is the $600 incl. the parts? I have OE mounts plus the trans mount, but I am early, I bought them when I had a 20% eBay coupon (this has been happening more and more and yesterday was only 15%), but the tech showed me my car on the lift last year and said here are your mounts and your trans mount, you don't need these replaced (wouldn't you know the dealer said I do I bet they didn't even look). I'm at 103k so I figure this will be a while...

Actually 640 total quoted last year. Should check if OEM parts. First I have to get rid of the PS (or whatever) whine. Trying to post youtube but haven't figured out how to do yet.
