Default How does the parking brake handle come out of the dash?

Tons of threads here debating the changing of the color of the handle for cars with ivory and grey interior. The black handles tend to not have this problem. I'm not sure if the plastic is painted or colored before it is shaped and had the same color throughout.

Anyway mine was kind of nasty looking and yellow so despite the posts on CL that said that is how they are supposed to be I ordered a new one. As you can see they are not supposed to be yellowed. Now the question is how to access the two screws that hold it in. Has anyone done this job? What did you do?

The button to release the sun glass holder by the dome light also has this problem so I might swap that assembly out before they discontinue it. Man I miss having my LS with black interior.

That's a good diagram.

However, the upper 2 screws by the handle are blocked by the dash. I do not see how to get access to them. The fuel/trunk switches sit below it and I've never removed them so if they come out maybe there is access to the 2 screws.

Many Thanks....exactly what I needed.

I guess I will buy the mirror adjustment switch since I will be in there anyway. The mirrors do not lower when I go into reverse with the toggle in the right position.
