This will probably get sold out pretty quick but do you guys think this car is a good car? I think it has a pretty decent history, and its a CL for 9k 114k miles. The images arent in order as I couldn't figure out how to put them in order but you can skim them easily.
It looks like there are problems with the CD player and with the audio system making popping sounds. If the latter was not fixed, I think the ML system can be expensive to diagnose and fix.
What about the problems with the parking sensor?
The water pump and thermostat were replaced at 90k. I assume the timing belt was as well?
I really don't trust Lexus dealerships, anyone catch that comment after the rear brakes, clean "caliper slides." To me, using that terminology applies to floating calipers. But you know how it goes, if anyone questions the dealership, they would say oh, what he meant was he worked on your fixed calipers and he meant that he cleaned everything up. How about a free keychain? Oil change? Disregard the paperwork.
Reminds me of when the Toyota dealership did a multipoint and said clutch fluid was OK.
Boy, it sure is hard to digest the service history when it's presented out of order! The car has had more than its share of gremlins, but overall maintenance has been pretty good. Supplementing the Lexus history with a Carfax might be beneficial.
That said, a 2004 CL with 114K for $9000 at a dealer should get snapped up quickly (like today) as it's a fair price.
I too am concerned about the audio system but this used car dealership emphases satisfaction and had over five stars from numerous customers so I can imagine the problems have probably been sorted out, but you never know.
As long as you don't really need the Bluetooth, nav and the radio, probably a good car.
Also, as previously stated, assume TB was done with water pump, but not listed.
I don't know if I should be concerned about the time period where the oil wasn't changed for over 25k miles (I'm assuming worst case scenario it was not changed anywhere else)? Also if I do find faults on any electrical appliances like CD changer or parking sensors should I try to get some money taken off?
imho it's doubtful that oil weren't changed in 25k? But if it were the case, I would avoid. my experience is that for one, carfax is inaccurate for 3/4 of our cars. For some reason, my 1998 Nissan does have every single service on the record. But my wife's GM, my BMW, and the Lexus, are all missing records, incl. at the dealerships. This is why imho there's no substitute for paper, esp. in a private sale.
So true! Lexus dealers are a joke (at least in Indianapolis). They damaged my tire pressure sensor, then wanted me to pay for it!!!
I will never use a Lexus dealer again!
I have better experiences with a Kia dealer over a Lexus dealer.
