Lexus LS430 is still the Best Used Luxury Car

Wikipedia says the " Models with the tuned sports suspension, sold as the touring package in the U.S. featured larger high speed brakes. These brakes were also standard on European market models." I do not know if this is correct.

I think the 10% number is the selling price used, not the number that remain on the road. 2006 LS430 that stickered for $65k was sold to me for $14,700 in 2016. And an Audi A8 that stickered for $78k, with 25k less miles, would be selling in the $12k's, in 2016. German cars suffer greater depreciation. But this thread was becoming a love fest for all the advanced features, and I'm only pointing out the Germans will always be advanced on features. Don't our cars lack something as simple as heated washer nozzles, where German cars have had that since the early 80's?

If a LS430 is that good, then how good is a S550? If it's all about features, MB is better hands down. They had night vision in 2007. Our cars don't even have HID high beams.
No question it's an awesome car, and an offshoot of what Toyota Motor was able to do fall of 1989, but let's keep it 100!

However and I don't want to get into a bashing about "Mercedes", but I bought my Lexus LS430 for the reliability factor and features over Mercedes.
According to Consumer Reports, they also reported that the Mercedes CLA was not only the most unreliable Mercedes, but 140% worse than the average car. Ouch.

And I had to snoop around a little to find what night vision was all about. Don't know if staring down at my instrument cluster would be a good idea. Thats me.
And another video
The preponderance of Mercedes issues doesn't sit well with me. They look damn good and that's about it for me.
And this is a Lexus forum.

We all know that in a perfect world we all drive 1994 Celicas that cost $300 like Scotty!
I just think that we should be realistic about our cars, no matter how much we do love them.

Agree. The very best state of the art features are basically mostly useless in an otherwise unreliable breakdown prone vehicle.

The last reliable S-Class was the W126. Other than 2007-10 LS460 that had some unbecoming issues for the flagship of Lexus, the LS is the paragon of bulletproof reliability and build quality.
S-Class hasn't always "walked all over" LS. 1st gen LS creamed the W126. LS430 vs W220 is a joke, TKO for Lexus. After the 430's reign (I don't just say that bc I own one, it's just our 430s are that over-engineered vs the hands down cost-cut worst S-Class in history), yes I will agree the S-Class has lead the pack.
That said, I would never, ever own a used one.
I bought my 430 when it was 8 years old and I've replaced front control arm bushings and had to lube the sunroof. It's now 14 years old and I have a bad door lock actuator. That's it.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy any 460 after '11 and expect the same crazy, stupid reliability.
That's way more "100" to me than the Mercedes. Just my .02.
