? for others who installed front KYB Strut Mount & Bellows
I posted this in another thread but didn't get any responses. Hoping it will get more views here.
Here is my question for others who have done this previous.
I am in the process of swapping out the bags for springs/shocks.
I ordered the following KYB items:
Front Strut #341392 Strut Mount #sm5565 Strut Bellow # SB104
Rear Strut #341393 Strut Mount #SM5566 Support Bellow #SB102
Well I got everything today and I am confused about the front setup.
The KYB Strut Mount #sm5565 comes with a boot attached to mount itself.
I also have the Strut Bellow # SB104. It comes with a boot and also a bump stop I presume??
My question is am I supposed to be installing SB104 below the boot that comes on the strut mount?
Maybe just taking the bump stop alone and installing under the boot that comes with the mount as no bump stop was included with sm5565
I have attached a photo to show what I received.

You would not need both parts, as long as you are retaining the original bump stop. You should be able to use the original stop, unless it has disintegrated or is missing. I believe the bellow and bump stop grouping is for those who are reusing their mounts, but have a damaged bellow and/or bump stop. You would cut off the damaged bellow close to the mount and zip-tie the new one to the mount.

You don't need SB104 send it back if you can. After market companies subscribe to the "one size fits many" model and sometimes little glitches like this pop up.
Your existing bump stop will probably be intact and the original bellows may be as well. There is a HUGE difference in quality from OEM for these parts. You will see when everything is apart. A heavily used Lexus strut bellow is still 10x better than a brand new KYB.
Edit- OOPS I overlooked the air part as well !

Thanks for the info Brad. Your the first I have seen that says the OEM mounts are a HUGE Improvement over these KYBs. Many others on hear said save the money and buy KYBs so I did. I have never seen either version so I went based on what I read here. The KYBs sell for $37 where the OEMs sell for $105. Now I am second guessing my decision, damn lol

I was mainly talking about the bumper and bellows where there is a night and day difference. It's really hard to tell with the mounts as it's rubber smashed between 2 metal plates but after seeing the difference in the rubber quality and thickness of the bellows I don't think I would be in a hurry to buy any mounting hardware from KYB. Just my 1.5 cents....,

OId thread, but what did you ever do with this? Were you able to shove that bump stop into the front strut mount and bellows? I'm going through the same thought process regarding the OEM price vs KYB mounts. Also interested in your opinion of the KYB shocks if you used those. I'm planning on using them with OEM non-sport springs.
