It's purely the UV rays. Use Aerospace 303.

Yes, I was thinking 303 or a product like Zaino Z-CS - http://www.zainostore.com/product/Z-CS.html

Q: Can Z-CS be used on trim or porous plastic surfaces, like on a Chevy Avalanche's cladding?
A: Yes. Zaino Clear Seal works very well on surfaces including porous trim or plastic. Z-CS will protect the color and condition of the surfaces and help prevent fading or discoloration.

Q: Does Z-CS contain any UV protection?
A: Yes. Z-CS contains our best UV inhibitors that protect against potentially damaging sun exposure and ultra-violet light.

The Sylvania headlight restoration kit is the best of the many I've used. Have taken several sets of headlights from looking like opaque trash to looking crystal clear and like new with them staying clear for several years. It's best to exceed the instructions. Do the work in a dust free environment (not outdoors), temperature between 60 and 80, low humidity is better, and don't drive the car for at least 48 hours to give the clear coat time to cure. Use masking tape and cut up plastic bags to protect the bodywork from the chemicals. The kit contains enough product to refinish both headlights and foglights on one vehicle.

Polishing and simple repair kit solutions works well but sorry all, they don't last. Have done this many times, including full wet sanding and polishing. Done properly they look amazing and nearly factory fresh; however, you have to repeat the process in 6-12 months depending on conditions. Don't get me wrong, i have done this many times and lived with the results to save $$$. Here's a link to how I do them on my kid's Honda. http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/18...ht-lenses.html

For a long-term solution either re-spray the lenses with quality clear coat after proper prep; or replace just the lens as source noted above. I was happy to see a lens replacement for the LS; very few cars have this option. When mine fail completely, i will try the respray with a high quality 2-part clear like
Amazon Amazon
and may even do it on the car with EVERYTHING covered to avoid the over-spray or take the time to remove the headlight fixtures.
