Simply put, and I couldn't agree more.

Congrats BT, enjoy the hell out of your ride. In ways that matter most, I believe it to be the best car ever built at any price.

That sounds really low to me, like a wholesale price for a rough car. I paid $15k, and I probably paid a "retail" price, but I'll gladly pay that for one in exceptional shape versus a thousand cheaper for one that's been through hell and back. I can tell the difference between one that's been pampered and one that's just been detailed.

I agree, I'm a Lexus believer. German cars are basically now disposable, you lease them, then dump them before the warranty. It's a shame, because European cars were what you bought if you wanted a "real" car instead of the crap Detroit was producing. But now, you're playing Russian Roulette if you buy a German flagship car out of warranty. Still, even well built cars like Lexus have issues with enough miles. Fortunately, I can do many repairs myself.

Glad to be an LS owner! Thanks for the help, I'll probably be around asking newbie questions.

Default Looking into getting a high mileage LS430, Advice?

Found a 04 LS430 with about 100k on the clock. What is the reliability of these cars and what should I be looking for specifically when buying this car with that kind of mileage? Should I be looking for a different year? Thoughts?

Make sure the 90K service has been done (timing belt, camshaft seals, etc.). A lot of used cars have had some time of body work. Sometimes the accident would have caused frame damage and other damages to mechanical components. Look carefully for any shoddy repair work. Leaks from gaskets, oil and transmission pans will need to be carefully looked for. I think buying any used car comes with risks. However, if you spend a lot of time assessing it before you buy, it will be well worth it.

Default 04 ls with 100k

I bought my 2002 with 113,000 and have had absolutely no problems. I would make sure all the buttons work and most important was the 90K service done? Good luck!!

How does the service history look, they are bulletproof cars if maintained. 04 had 17 versus 18 inch wheels thats about it over 05, 06.

Where do these people get 100k miles as high??? Do you know the combustion engine has seen many many many 1 million mile landmarks over the years? As long as a car is maintained even 500,000 miles is just a number.

It's 2013 not 1951. Cars last and last and last. Do our homework before asking such a crazy question.

Should not be a problem at all...bought my 2002 model with 109k and have no worries... just be sure the maintenance has been done and then keep it up after the purchase.
Log in to mylexus.com and put in the vin number and you can see all the service records if the vehicle was serviced at the dealer...if not, then look for seller to confirm.

I bought my 01 with 113k 3 years ago and have no problems thus far. But I think a 04 with 100k is less than average these days

100k is nothing. Coming from the SC crowd where everyone's cars have 200k+ miles on them, 100k is low to me.

I had a 99 SC300 with 235k. Not a single hiccup.
I gave my 01 gs300 to my younger sister 330k. burns a little oil but no hiccups either.
I just sold my LS400 with 204k. I didnt even want to sell it cuz it ran so good.

My new LS430 144k. Gonna mob it until the wheels fall off, which i doubt will ever happen

Oh man! I know those seats are nice, but I sure hope you got a good chiropractor after driving all those 750k+ miles!! ;-)

Echoing what others have said: I just purchased an 05 with 110,000 miles and was very comfortable with that because I checked the service records, the car was owned by two people who kept it very clean, leather still looked new, I pulled carfax on it and the 2nd Owner purchased it has a CPO from lexus. The timing belt had not been done but he was upfront about it and since I have a GS with 122K and I haven't done the timing belt on that I was okay with that. I will have it done soon on both cars. Oh and ask alot of questions and check all the buttons, in fact the Owner encouraged it before finalizing the deal.
