What changed with respect to interior? Is late-model LS430 as reliable (or more reliable) than early-model LS430? Is six-speed tranny as smooth (or smoother) than five-speed tranny? The five-speed Super-ECT tranny in my 2002 shifts so smoothly it is imperceptible unless looking at the tach. My Lexus guy says he prefers driving five-speed LS versus six-speed and eight-speed LS. Obviously six-speed is quicker but that matters not to me as the LS is not slow but it is not fast either.

Seems to be a large price jump between 2003 and 2004 LS430s with respect to used versions. Could be just a coincidence -- Did not check KBB.

Wonderful cars no matter what year one might prefer...

i have the six speed in my '05 and don't really like it, too much shifting. It's smooth but I just prefer things to be locked up and running in top gear by 40 mph and this thing is still shifting into six around 45. Just annoying to me is all.

This is similar to what my Lexus guy told me. He said the six-speed tends to hunt around a little bit more than the five-speed.
