LS - 3rd Gen (2001-2006) Discussion topics related to the flagship Lexus LS430

If this Carfax is accurate, the timing belt wasn't changed until 228k.

Saw the Doug kinda douchey Demuro (sorry--the stupid doug scores annoy me) with this 495,000 mile LS430.

It's still on the second timing belt, at 500,000 miles. I went to look at Lexus service history but that site is always a PITA to navigate.

Can that even be? 228k on a timing belt? And then another 270k on the next one?
It is possible....

I can only find one record of the timing belt being done on my '01, and that was at 90k miles back in April of 2011. It's now just shy of 199k miles. So I would say it's about due, more so for age and wear on the water pump and associated pulleys, not so much on the belt itself. But at the same time, I think I also want to get a new radiator as well as I'm pretty sure it too is the original. Possibly upgrade to an all aluminum one. Who knows.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'll go well past the 102k I went on my first TB. Probably will change again at 240k. If an idler or WP were going bad, you'd hear it.

My old belt looked new.

My '05 has 160,000. My mechanic whom I trust completely says the bolts have never been off the front of the engine. I'm going to have the belt done next week, just don't trust it to go much further. Nothing in Carfax or dealer site says anything about the belt having been done.
