Not kidding, for the steering alone, it would be worth it. I don't find our steering to be all that soft, but I do find the wheel is a little large.
I am driving a brand new (had 7 miles) Nissan Rogue right now on business, and there is no feel whatsoever to the steering. You could literally drive with a pinkie at 3 mph. I wouldn't want this type of steering, but it's like that on so many cars, it's considered normal...the BMW 328 was like that in '16 as well. The new LS500 ditto.

Hard to say. There's a part of me that wants to fix the Whale, sell it on and buy another 3 litre Ford Mondeo. But I can't do mad skids in that like I can do in the Whale.

They'll burying me in mine!!! Since I get between 200-300K per car, this will be my 5th to go that distance (VW Fastback, 3 Volvo 240D's, a G35). By the time I hit 300K, I'l be around 75 or 80. A go cart will be the next car!
I took my car in today to have hem install 4 new tires...the dealership gave me a loner for the day--a Mercedes 550SL. The most pretentious, stodgy, boat I've ever driven.

Man. With my reputation of constantly itching my scratch (130+) cars since I was 14...Im 28 now...im not sure. It is STILL being worked on by my tech. So, since I purchased it May 15th, I have driven it 200+ miles back home and to work, where it has been sitting on a lift, slowly being worked on. I have a tint appointment this Saturday, so he has a deadline. I am excited to finally drive it with a ton of new stuff added. I believe I will be keeping it for a long time. Have wanted this vehicle for a LONG time. Time will tell (intro to Pink FLoyd Time plays....)

Back around 2001, 2002 I was living/working in Atlanta and many of the guys I worked with owned the 1990-1993 Honda Accords. They were the go-to vehicle for commuters it seemed.. A lot of them had in excess of 200K - 250K miles which I was amazed by back then. So, I went out and found a really clean 1991 2 owner LX with 130K on it. We all talked about how it was the greatest car ever built, bullet proof, great mileage, easy to work on, etc... Well, eventually those Hondas wore out (mine, unfortunately was wrecked by my daughter) and now, I never see them anymore, unless they are absolutely beat to death and being offered for 500-1000 dollars someplace.
Now, I find myself with another group of people who feel that the 3rd Gen LS is the best car ever made. And I would have to agree.
So, to answer the question... I'll keep my LS's as long as they are a viable option. With my 155 mile commute everyday, at some point I'll have to decide whether driving an ultra high mile car is a wise choice. But, until then, I'll be driving the LS for the foreseeable future...

Now, another great question would be "Who still carries full coverage on their LS?"
Sorry, john don't mean to get the thread off-topic...

Almost 10 years of ownership now and going strong! Have no intention of selling anytime soon!

I plan on keeping mine as short of going back to 70’s era Cadillac’s ( or BOP B-bodies) the 3rd generation LS has the softest ride & most features. In order to get comparable fuel mileage from a GM classic of this era requires a small modern drivetrain conversion ( for example a 5.3L LS & 4L60E overdrive transmission). By the time you do the conversion you could have purchased a 3rd gen LS. As to full coverage, yes. Although I don’t plan to hit anyone liability only coverage didn’t cover making a mistake like backing into something or sliding off the road in inclement weather. When I checked last month the policy premium difference was $300 annually. At some point ( maybe value of 430 is under $4k) I will reconsider. For people living in areas that have snow/ice and lots of precipitation it would be sad to slide off the road, smack a guardrail and then learn your insurance doesn’t cover this without “collision”. Insurance varies by state and country so call your agent and ask. Sorry forever is the answer unless it gets hit by lightning or a massive EMP pulse.

That's my thought as well. My Collision/Comprehensive is about $350 more that the liability alone, so until the car is worthless, I'm keeping full coverage on both cars

I'll drive my 22k mile backup car when the current car dies. It has 1423k miles on it now. My wife is already annoyed with the extra car in the garage that only gets driven once or twice a month.

One of the main reason I replace my cars are because as they get older, they are getting behind on safety features. Going to pick up my LS this coming Saturday, which will eventually replace our trusty 95 Avalon. It still works fine for driving around town, cold AC + hot heater, cheap to insure, easy to work on. Currently she has 247K miles, and I am sure it will run for another 100K miles. But only has front airbags and of course newer car has better frame to protect the occupants, etc.
