How to VERIFY it is Semi Aniline Leather
I've done a lot of research on here, even reading the archived manuals, and I'm not 100% sure on how to know a particular LS has semi aniline leather. Here's what I know so far and hoping others on here can fill the gaps so when I'm looking at cars I can know for sure.
1. If it's UL trim, its semi aniline, 100%?
2. If it's CL, it may have semi aniline but I heard this was an add on option?
3. If it is not a CL or UL, there is NO chance it will have semi-aniline?
Is all of the above true? If so, then on #2, how can I determine if a CL does or doesn't have the semi-aniline option. Assuming, of course, the seller doesn't have the window sticker.

Go to www.lexusdrivers.com and open up resources. Scroll down to Vehicle Information Lookup and enter the VIN.

Oh wow, now I'm more confused. So there is semi aniline, nappa, and basic leather? So 3 types available?
I've owned a lot of leather cars and I hate the cracking/fading that more recent cars/ cheaper leather brings with it. This is especially important when buying a car that is 10+ years old. So based on that, is Nappa or Semi Aniline going to hold up better?

I'm pretty sure all the cl and ul that were black came with semi alanine. You can almost always tell by looking at it because it looks so much less cracked. And The seats are also stiffer. I'm not sure about white and saddle but I think the white don't have it. I would encourage you to drive cars without semi alanine to see if you find it comfier. As a last ditch effort you can email Lexus customer support and give them your VIN and they will tell you everything it came with, I did and it says semi alanine. Check these out.
