Default Rear Window Replacement

I have to place the left rear window glass on my 2001 LS430. Do I need to remove the trim from the rear quarter window in order to remove the glass?
Thanks, Alan Benton

Is it the quarter glass or the large window?

Sorry - It is the large left rear window glass. I replaced the front as I was able to rotate the front window in the track. I do not seem to be able to do this with the rear window. Thanks

Those instructions cover the regulated window as well as the small fixed window.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for the schematic and instructions. Scarey that it looks like you need to remove rivets and the glass run to replace the window. Is this correct? Thanks for your help.

That's what I read as well. I didn't search the forum, but perhaps there's a DIY on here that someone has done at one point. It also may be useful to visit the Youtube to see if anyone has posted info there...

A video is worth a few thousand words, and all that...

I have checked YouTube and didn't find anything for the rear, or front window for the LS430. The original window has clouded up as the two lairs of glass have an air leak. I believe Lexus went to a single pain of glass in 2002, perhaps because of this issue. Thanks again for your response.

I found a video on the 1A Auto website for a Camray with a similar arrangement. You have to remove the window dividing bar, which allows the rubber window guide to be pulled up to give the window clearance. If this does not work I will remove the rivets. Thanks again.

This means you have a UL model which have the dual pane glass... it has a layer of laminate sandwiched between two thinner outer layers of glass. There are quite a few topic in the forum where members have discussed replacing the original laminated rear glass glass single pane glass, and the consensus was that you could do this without any issues (other than a very very small additional amount of wind noise from that area).
