How do I install brake switch assembly, 84340-30110?
I need to install a new brake switch assembly, which is found behind the brake pedal. Has anyone installed one? What are the steps? Can this be done easily or should this be done by a professional? Should the battery be disconnected before working on this electrical item? How do you keep the brake pedal out of the way? Thank you.

Well, I haven't changed the switch, but I see the shop manual calls out for 48 minutes worth of labor to change the switch, so it can't be too involved. If it's like other stoplamp switches, it should just attach to the brake pedal and be adjustable via the threaded end of the switch.
Plug in the connector and you should be in business...

Completed last weekend. Thanks for encouragement. Works well.
Bought new oem switch via eBay from dealer in AZ. Works well. Disconnected battery. Detached under dash cover, and hung in place with string to make room for right hand hand. Reviewed how to install Toyota brake switch assemblies online youtube videos. Practiced beforehand with new cylinder. Photographed existing installation, so that I would position new switch in exactly same place based on threads. Working on back it is a tight and awkward position. Used small plastic to scraper 1/2 in. wide to carefully disconnect wire connector. Without the scraper it was difficult to disconnect connector. Since I am 5' 8" and 150 lb., I could reach and fit adequately. It could be tough for a larger person with big hands.

Awesome... you're just the right size to come work on my car..
Congrats on getting the job done yourself. Nothing more satisfying than a job done well and at lowest possible price.

Glad it worked out easily. I figured it would be a fairly simple job.. Being 6'1" and 215, it would be a little more tricky for me to crawl up in there!
