Default Is there a way to use steering wheel controls for aux?

The previous owner of my LS430 had the dealer install an aux cable. When I got the car I just attached a tiny aux-BT device that allows me to wirelessly stream music. However the big downside with my aux setup is that I can't use the steering wheel controls. Is there any way of using my factory steering wheel buttons to control my music apart from buying the BT-45TOY? $170 to use buttons seems like overkill at the moment

We have the BT45-TOY installed in our 2004 LS and 2005 ES. It was easy to install on both vehicles. 20-30 min tops.

Which controls do you want to control besides Volumn Up/Down from the steering wheel?

On the 2004 LS with Nav, AM/SAT controls. When you toggle AM/SAT you get AM and then SAT1/SAT2/SAT3. On each, BT45-TOY uses Preset 4 as Bluetooth and Preset 6 as AUX input.

So I guess you can toggle the presets. But once playing, you really don't need to change the preset. Is it skip track that is needed? I think there might be a shortcut for that.

The sound is amazing with the unit. Bluetooth works great. You can hook up a USB cord for an additional charging port. Can't say enough good things about the BT45-TOY. Check the USA-Spec site for specific instructions I guess.

Oh, do a Buy It Now from eBay for the unit. ~$137 with free shipping the last time I checked. 2001-2003 need the additional CAS-LEX cable for $29.95.

You can also answer and hang up the phone using your wheel buttons with the BT45. It comes with a mic so it adds hands-free calling.

Or..... you can just keep the current AUX setup. and get a bluetooth handsfree remote that attaches to the steering wheel or the dash. it works as a mic and having circular buttons for music controls.

The "Besign" one is working flawlessly with me.

I have this
GROM unit GROM unit
. Still maybe a little more than you’re looking on spending, but it’s just one of those things about this car.

I gives me an aux cable input plus a USB input that plays flawlessly from my iPhone. All stock button functionality is maintained on the radio and steering wheel

Yep, we all have those buttons

You’re talking about the ability to use the next/back buttons to change tracks with the steering wheel, yes?

Yeah. If it's not possible I guess I'll have to buy the Bluetooth thing in the future

With the BT45, you have change tracks on buttons in front, and volume on buttons in back on left side of steering wheel. Use the front buttons to answer and hang up phone.
