Default Anyone know how to disconnect FM antenna?

I have an FM transmitter and I'm not quite ready to spend the $200+ on a vaistech kit which I really want for bluetooth. Anyone have video/pictures on how to disconnect the FM antenna?

Either standard or Nav unit equipped come out the same. The Chinesium Harbour Freight/Ebay/Amazon plastic interior tools is money well spent. Here you go. Don’t drop the screws/bolts in the tranny tunnel or you will be disappointed.

Having a bit of an issue. If I disconnect either plug in the back of the stereo, I get an error on the nav screen that says "external system is disconnected"

On my 01 ML w/ Nav the antenna connection is in the trunk next to the Nav unit. Not sure if its the same with non Nav or non ML cars.

I have an 05, I know there are some changes past the 02, so it might be a bit different. Do you happen to have any pictures or a video?

Is your car equipped with Nav?

From what I can tell the connection is the same. The Beatsonic kit for the 01-03 and 04-06 have the same antenna wire with adapter. The antenna connection is not a standard Motorola antenna plug like most cars. Thats why the Beatsonic kit comes with an adapter wire. But the connection is in the trunk next to the Nav unit.
Here is a thread on install of the Beatsonic kit.

Excellent, thank you. One more question; I have an FM transmitter/bluetooth workaround, but some songs have static/distortion when the bass clashes with the vocals, is it because it's running on a busy frequency on the FM station? Because I've tried playing the same songs on a burned CD and the sound quality is superb.

The only reason I made this post was because some guy on reddit said he just disconnected the FM antenna and had no static/distortion.

Couple things. What is this workaround you speak of? What brand/model of Bluetooth and FM modulator are you using?

This is the workaround I was referring to.

The FM radio is stock in the car.

I would look into either getting a different unit or seeing if there is a warranty on the unit you have and get it replaced. I do not see unplugging the antenna helping with your issue. I could only see unplugging the antenna making things worse.

It would seem that you are correct. Tried unplugging the antenna to no avail, did not resolve the problem. I'm not going to try to get a replacement unit, I'm just gonna shoot straight for a vaistech Bluetooth kit, as I would prefer native bluetooth instead of a plug in cigarette lighter adapter.
