Wink Trunk alignment question

I was recently rear-ended in my ls430. It's been repaired at an auto body shop. They said the only damage was to the rear bumper. I noticed that when the trunk is closed, that it isn't perfectly aligned to the body. It appears to be set in on both sides maybe a bit less than a 1/4". It looks even, and I can't find any obvious damage to the trunk lid, but it seems odd to me that it wouldn't line up flush with the lights on the back. Should it be flush, or does it set in slightly? The trunk closes fine and locks, but to me it seems off.

Insurance is involved. I rejected the car today and asked that Progressive come back and look at it. The shop seems to think it's normal, but they couldn't say for sure. Can somebody on this list serve with an ls430 3rd gen take a look at their trunk and let me know if I am right to reject the job based on the trunk setting in about 1/4 " from the rear quarter panels? It seems to line up properly on top of the trunk. It's just the back facing corners that appear to set in.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm sure you know that it is not correct if they don't line up. I suggest you post a photo or two if you want opinions from others.

Default Trunk alignment

What’s odd is that it is so evenly set in on both sides. I will stop by the shop tomorrow and post pics. It’s odd that the shop would be unsure if it’s right or not. They couldn’t find anything damaged on the trunk and it closes and locks no problem. I looked at other cars in the lot, and not one of them had the trunk set in at all.

Thx for the response.

These are the instructions from the service manual showing the factory clearances and adjustment instructions.
