I am in the process of a timing belt change on my newly acquired 2004 LS 430. I noticed with the old belt on while the crank is set at TDC, the RH bank camshaft pulley timing marks are slightly off. I looks to be half a tooth off from the line. With the belt off should I try to move the RH camshaft half a tooth to get it back in line, assuming I moved the crankshaft 50 degrees past TDC? I have had the car for a month and have not noticed any issues while driving it.
I have done a timing belt change years ago on a 98 LS and all the camshaft plus crank timing marks lined up perfectly at TDC so this is way I'm a little concerned.
I'm assuming that is the old belt in the pic, which may have stretched slightly, and the valve springs may be preventing the cam from rotating into the exact position you are looking for. Put the new belt on and see where it falls I think you'll be fine.
If you moved the crank 50 degrees from 0 the notches in the pulley should line up with the bottom of the "T" marks. Your pic shows where the timing marks should be with the crank at 0 degrees/TDC. I see what you mean about the half tooth off. I wouldn't worry about it as it should be right on with the new belt. You may have to move the pulleys a slight bit to line everything up but thats what's called for in the service manual.

Looks fine to me. I removed the timing belt recently and got similar results when I went to put it into the correct position for removal. The belt stretches somewhat with age and from your photo it looks very close. You are limited to the spacing of the teeth of the belt and if you were to shift a tooth in either direction you will make it worse. You will probably find there's some backlash should you choose to try rotating that cam. If there are no error messages you are normally good to go.
