Strut mount on UL and experiance with Beck/Arnley parts
Hello all...
looking to overhaul a few suspension consumables on my '06 LS430 UL and i was looking up strut mounts only to find those marked for non-air models. Is there a difference and are there aftermarket ones for the air suspension models?
Looking to replace the strut mount alongside upper control arms, lower ball joint and swaybar bushings. Car has aged for expensive and hard to find OEM parts, so I'm wondering if anyone had experiences with beck/arnley suspension parts for our cars Thanks.

Aha, thanks for the response.
im getting muffled rattles and steering shakes over bumps, but what made me suspect the mounts is the steering wheel's slow or lack of return to center after turning.

I have the exact same question. There is a rubber mount there... No way there is just a metal piece between the body and the strut. It would bang, groan, slam, and God knows what else if that were the case. I have seen "gaskets" listed on parts diagrams that you can find online. Its basically a rubber pad. My car pops and clunks over any large transition or on gravel roads. Its super annoying. If you get it fixed let us know. I want to do this myself but don't want to screw with the already complicated air suspension..
I've already replaced lower ball joints, inner and outer tierods, swaybar end links, and mounts. Checked the upper ball joints and bushing and they were fine.

So I just removed the air suspension from my 04 about 15 mins ago and there is Only 2 metal plates 1 above and 1 below on the front air struts. On the rear there is only 1 on top where you mount the nuts. The rear strut itself has a 1” rubber bushing that holds the unit in place.
A fact act is a fact.

Well that is good to know. I wish I had the ability to post the parts diagram that shows a “gasket”.
I cannot explain why my suspension seems like it has a heavy gap in it. Every car I have ever owned required strut mounts or at least bushings eventually but if this does not have one I have no idea where I am getting the noise on the up and down transitions.
I am adding a question here. How did you get the air hose out and back in Without a special tool?

Simple answer your air strut is bad. The air strut itself is oil filled, since you have an UL, just pull the plastic off, take off the dust cap and if you see oil then your strut is blown, air bag can still be good but damping/rebound is no good and that’s likely where your getting the clunk.

Well I have inspected the strut and there is no leaking or visible oil........ There is something loose or something that has a tolerance that has opened up. Replaced lots of bad struts and shocks in my years and haven't had one that would clunk like this. Once the internal valving, oil, or seals wear it will fail soft or fail hard and I don't have any of those symptoms. The car has a very nice ride and is giving me no indication that the strut has failed. I'm not discounting what you are saying but I just think that the diagnosis should focus elsewhere given the noise and feeling of clunking. Im starting to think that I have subframe bushings that have worn and I cannot reproduce that force necessary to replicate the symptoms while the car is on jack stands. I might need to take it to the local indy shop.

i have been having the same issue. i get loud bangs over manholes on my right rear, but otherwise the car rides just fine. im not convinced my rear strut is bad just yet. im thinking subframe bushings. or i will at least rule them out by changing the first... as for steering wheel shake at 55-65 and rattle over bumps.. i have dealt with that for about 2 years i haved one **** ton of research and taken it to lexus multiple times and every time they said everything is good. so i took it into my own hands.. last weekend i replaced the steering rack bushings with the daizen poly bushings from amazon. BAM the rattle is completely gone, and the shake is 90 percent gone. after inspecting my LCAs, they are shot too. turns out the steering rack bushings were ovalled out, assuming from the LCA bushings being bad and allowing the shake and after awhile, it compounded. i bought the LCA bushing subassemblies for the IS and will be changing those on monday, then i will write a detailed post on my journey. so first, check those steering rack bushings, and those LCAs. i will be looking into subframe bushings in the near future. good luck!
