Oil Light curiosities
Just curious, recently changed the oil in the new-to-me LS430 and noticed the following:
1. Ignition on/engine off - there is NO oil pressure warning lamp showing on my dash (Like every other vehicle I've owned does before the engine is switched on)
Is this normal lexus behaviour?
2. These engines have an oil level sensor - never had one before, but the oil in the engine according to the dip stick was around the low point yet no alerts on the dash.
How low does the oil have to be for the low oil sensor to trigger? Is there a way to test that it is working properly?
Cheers

If low oil pressure is detected a message will be displayed in the multifunction display on the left side of the dash. It'll say "low oil pressure". I don't think the low oil level warning will come on until you are at least 2 quarts low. With most cars it takes one quart of oil to raise the level from the low mark to full.
