Default Jerky transmission at low speeds.

I notice when I shift into reverse it'll jolt. The shifts are also jerky at low speeds like from a dead stop ill hit the gas a little and at ~5 mph itll shift hard and again until all the way to third. They're not SO jerky but there sort of a lag. I know there was a service bulletin for this but I don't know if it was ever done on the car. Anyone have experience before and after the update? 2005 150k miles

Here is the service bulletin you mentioned. Check your VIN number because it may not even apply to your 2005. I would also check the condition of your transmission mount.

So the production change effective vin is JTHBN36F*5005700 and my vin is JTHBN36F755xxxxxx so that means my car was part of this TSIB?

No, the "*" denotes leading zeros, so any VIN# later/larger than *5005700 would not be part of this TSIB.

I'll second the "check your transmission mount". Is there a delay upon shifting into reverse it just a jerk?

Actually I was thinking wrong when I wrote that. There is a slight rpm increase but I assume that's normal. When I shift back into drive gear and press the gas there's a good amount of jerk.

When have you changed your car battery last time?

Never since having gotten it 6 months ago. Don't know how old the battery is.

Is there any clunking noise when it jerks? If it happens when you hit the throttle it's sounding more and more like a faulty engine or transmission mount.

To do a quick rough check of your mounts here's a trick: find a flat spot away from other cars, open your hood, sit up tall in the driver's seat so you can see the engine under the hood, firmly hold the brake with your left foot while you lightly press the throttle with your right foot, and observe the engine. Do this in both drive and reverse. There should be a very slight movement in the engine but it shouldn't be much.

I really don't hear hear anything it just jerks after the first step on the gas after having shifted from reverse. From a dead start there's no jerk, just jerks while shifting. Neither does it clunk when shifting while driving.I should also mention that's it's had the fluid changed every 50k so two times in total so far at the dealer.

Since this behavior occurs only when transition from reverse to drive, it may have something to do with the 2-section drive shaft. In particular, the support of the universal joint may have been loosen, or the rubber cushion has worn away...

Thanks! Do you have any suggestions as to why it's shifting and downshifting so hard at low speeds? I would describe it as it's shifting the car lags a little as if it's lost power for a split second.

Sometimes it's difficult to describe mechanical symptoms in writing. Please take a look at the attached table of symptoms and see if you can find a match...

Id say the last one on the second page most osely resembles it. Although at higher gears it isn't so much of a problem. Also i don't know if the shift points could be a issue. It shifts at around 1500 rpm but I've nticed in my dad's gx470 it shifts a little higher and it overall less jerkier.
