I've been eyething this LS 430. It's so mint and I love this color combo....been eyeing it for a few days now.

I have that same car except mine is a non-nav car. I love the Ash interior. That is a great example but still a car that will probably need almost $2k in work immediately. I assume that it was a River Oaks car due to the service location for most of its recent services, which is good. Still though, assume it needs tires, timing belt, serp belt, and all fluids changed. If I were still in the market for an LS and if that one was in the condition that mine was when I bought it last year, then I would pay $15k out the door and not a penny more. That might be high for some, but if the car presents well and is brought up to standard maintenance-wise, you'd have a great car for years to come.

Just be warned though, you could get into that car for $15k and drop $2k in the above-mentioned items and still have things break on it. Unlikely, but it could suddenly have a blown shock, or need brakes, or an AC charge etc etc.

 

thanks for the heads up - I currently drive a 1997 240sx so I know old cars need more maintenace. However, the LS does have waaaaaay more electronics and gadgets.

 

 

i wish. no way a one owner low mileage 06 ls will go for 9k, at least not in cali.

 

At what point though, do we walk away, if the price is not fair? On the carfax app, my car, with 110k miles, shows as being at a value of $5,220. It's a 2006.

When I bought this car in 2016, it was valued at almost 2k more than my 2007 BMW 335i. It costs more to insure, I can say that. Today, the BMW shows as having a value of $7,010. I would not pay $10k for my own car, if I know the wholesale value is $5k. If one needs something, one has no choice but to pay, but if it's not needed, one can always say no...my .02

Also, I wonder if it's a good time to drop at least collision....

 

I have to agree with John. In my case I looked up the values when buying my car and if I had overpaid I would have took a big loss when it was totaled a couple of months later. Maybe a couple hundred but no way I would over pay a couple of grand.
