Default replacing the radiator

I read a thread here on how to replace the radiator by yourself and it mentioned disconnecting two hoses that carry transmission fluid. Does anyone know how much actually leaks out when you disconnect those hoses? Do you need to elevate them or pinch off the hoses so it doesn't leak out?

Not much leaks out, maybe an ounce or 2. I usually plug the open ends of the hoses with expanding foam ear plugs. Have a pan and a few paper towels handy as the fluid usually drains onto the plastic support for the lower engine cover and drips off of that.

No problem. Another trick I use is to disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the engine side and remove the radiator with the hoses attached to it.

911LE is spot on but don't forget the small amount of fluid that leaves with the old radiator. It will obviously need to be replaced. If you have an earlier 430 with a trans dipstick it's not really an issue but later 430's with an A761 transmission are a little tougher to control the fluid level.

Excellent point, I never thought of that (My Maxima is a manual and I didn't use the connections for the trans). Me, I only want my indie to touch the "sealed" tranny...
