so i just purchased an 2004 LS430 with few issues, first issue is screen blank and all actual buttons both sides of the screen doesn't work.
when the car is on, the screen says lexus then it goes blank.
1. Then when u hit the nav button it says " external system in not connected"
2. Then when u hit the climate control button it says " check connectiion of the air conditioner"

So i decided open the Navi unit and reconnect everything, first time actual buttons works but screen is Green, so i figured the screen connection is lose, opened the unit and careful connected everything together. NADA! now all working. but for the issue the screen show "EXTERNAL SYSTEM IS NOT CONNECT" whenever i press Nav or Destination!!!! this will be another task for me dig deeper.

I don't know that any one uses the archaic Nav anyways. Installed a GROM and use Waze as my navigation.

i wont' use it but good to know is working. i'll get GROM..can you tell me which one you have and how you liked the GROM?

Did you check the connections and power for the Navigation unit in the trunk? It's the large one on the right side, behind the tuner close to the rear passenger side taillight.

i did, i took it out open up and everything look good, i even clean and re-connected everything together.
the nav does has power since i tried to eject DVD and it work. i think i'll give up on this... at least for now.

At least you got the climate control working, that's the important part.

so the Navigation unit isn't working well, good thing i leave the heat always on. seem like when is COLD the OUTSIDE TEMP won't display and i don't have climate control, but once the car started blowing heat and warm the car up. i get my climate control back.

regardless, i think on safe side i should still replace the unit.
