Got the car back from the auto body shop after some front end repairs. Had it detailed in the process. To celebrate, I put a coat of silicone grease on all the rubber gaskets (hood, trunk, doors). Baby is as quiet as new. 2005 UL, Flint Mica, Ecru interior. 72K miles.

Default Scout Photo Locations-LS430

I was scouting for a photo location (2000 Pontiac Formula WS6, White) and used my LS430. Given that this was taken with a Iphone and not with a tripod and professional camera equipment I think the location will work in the AM. I do like the sunset midship on the body line but their must be a pole somewhere in the background distorting the LR quarter. So yes, I washed the LS430 last week and stored it in the garage so its almost clean.

Wire brushed pieces of rust off the rear differential, subframe and rear mounts, degreased with Mineral Spirits, and applied advanced rust converter/primer Corroseal for long term protection.

Cleaned her up, polished the rims, cleaned the tires. Looking really nice. Stuck on if I should lower or not

Edit: pls delete, I thought I was on the what did you do today thread...

It is so annoying when you scroll to the bottom of a post to add a post using a mobile but the forum has *** ended into another "like" thread (according to some algorithm) that strangely allows you to post to it.

Not only is it frustrating to the person trying to add something to the original thread, it frustrates the context of the like thread. Whats worse there is no delete or move option to put the post into the correct thread.

When I changed the timing belt, I had to remove the radiator on my 2002 LS 430 and noticed the lower 1/3rd of the radiator was plugged solid with crud. I tried to wire brush it and used compressed air but never got it out, so I replaced it with a dense radiator from eBay for around $125. That was at 115,000 miles and now have 150,000 miles and all is good. Just a thought you may want to check the lower front facing side of the radiator, thats all.

Sold the rc350 wheels and threw on the sc430 wheels. Going to run them until the tires go bald. Waste not want not. 😉

This looks like the "running hot" thread. If so, my 2003 Lexus ran perfectly for probably 175K miles, and in 2020 I was driving from Nevada City CA to Loveland, CO. Cruising at 90mph on Interstate 80, outside temperature was 105F, uphill somewhere between Wells and Wendover, the temperature meter hit the upper peg, after never seeing it move a bit since 2003. Pulled over, let it cool and tried again. It pegged in just a couple miles. There was a roadside rest stop so I pulled off there. It was a long wait for a tow truck, pulled us into Salt Lake to a mechanic arriving about 2AM. Of course this was on a Sunday. Continued with a rental, and on the way back picked up the car...new radiator, which was blocked with crud. I really never flushed it, just added over the years. So for being an idiot it disrupted the trip, only slightly, and cost $800 which seemed quite fair. Otherwise the car, now with 185K miles, has been flawless.

At the age of these cars, you really have to be proactive in your maintenance approach rather than reactive. Especially at that mileage and with the heat exposure to a lot of the components under the hood. Remember, most of the parts on this car are pretty reasonable to replace and then you have a solid benchmark moving forward.
