Default Cyl. 2 misfire after spark plug change

Hi guys,

Firstly, I did look at some of the older posts and tried some of the fixes but nothing has worked so far. I have a 2001 LS430. I replaced the spark plugs with Denso IK20 plugs and now Cyl. 2 misfires and the car idles rough after warming up. On a cold start I do hear popping noises coming from the passenger side valve cover, sounds like popcorn popping but once it warms up, it goes away.

I replaced the ignition coil on Cyl. 2 with a denso ignition coil and it still misfires. I replaced the spark plug on Cyl. 2 with the same IK20 plug and it still misfires. I checked the wires and replaced the connector and it still misfires. I've checked all the wires on the injectors and coils on both sides and everything is intact, I've checked all the hoses even on both sides and everything is plugged in, I also cleaned my throttle body and replaced the coolant temp sensor. What should my next step be?

I would swap that plug and coil with ones from the other side of the engine and see if it's still that cylinder. If it is I would recheck the wiring for the coil. Those wires have a tendency to loosen up or pull out of the connector when handled. If none of that works I would do a compression and/or leakdown test on all cylinders and see if that one is different.

+1 on the recommendation above. Check the wiring and connector plug carefully.

Yep....I'm betting it's a pulled coil pack wire. I've had to fix one that I pulled out after replacing the spark plugs.

It turned out to be a faulty connector for the fuel injector on Cylinder 2. Not sure why it went faulty unless I accidentally tugged on it while working on the car.

Default I swapped the spark plug and used cleaner on plugs

I just replaced the spark plug on cylinder 2 and then took brake cleaner on the plugs of the coil and the injector.

Short ride and no codes. I will see how things turn out after a few miles. I will look at the coil and injector plugs after that.

Thanks for the results.
