Default 2005 TPMS Disabled

When I purchased our 2005 LS430 several years ago, the owner proudly remarked that his mechanic disabled the TPMS system as it was more trouble than it’s worth. My wife now drives this car and she recently ruined a tire because she didn’t notice the tire pressure was low. She wants the TPMS system working.

I have no idea how it was disabled. There are no error messages. Does anyone know where I should start? Could it be as simple as a fuse?

I highly doubt he was able to disable the tpms it is abs based.

yup, like 05ls430518 stated, there are no actual sensors in the wheels.

I know that. But it is disabled. It isn’t working and there are no lights.

I know it is ABS based and though you may doubt it, it is disabled. I’m asking for ideas on how it was done.

You may need to use a Techstream to re-enable Low Tire pressure system.

i would purchase Techstream from amazon approx. $50 top! but all my computer are MAC! no windows at home.

Have you tried to push the TPMS button under the dash next to the smart key on and off button? Dont know if it will help but cant hurt.

Our previous LS430 worked perfectly. Almost too good as the chrome rims had a slow leak and the the warning would appear regularly until I had the rims fixed. So I had plenty of practice with the reset button.

I’m dealing with this exact problem right now with my front two wheels. They lose air at almost exactly the same rate, it’s very strange. Anyway, how did you fix it? Take the tires off and sand the bead surface?

I paid a local rim shop to take off the tires and machine the sealing surface. Can’t remember what I paid, but it fixed the problem.

Damn, I might just buy new wheels soon then. I’ve always wondered how some 18-19” Volk TE-37s would look on this car
