Shifter Plate Disassembly

Hey Ls family, I wanted to swap out my shifter plate for a brand new one, because it happens to be scuffed up pretty bad.... how complicated is the process? It is just held in with clips or do you have to take out the whole shifter assembly for the swap? Don't want to take on the hassle for something purely aesthetic because of my OCD, if it's going to be more of a hassle. TIA.
