Hi All,
So my seat memory system doesn't seem to work. There is no beep when trying to program the positions - regardless of park, neutral, ignition on or engine running. Press and hold any of the positions there is no beep.
Side details
All seat motors work perfectly
Mirrors work perfectly
Both tilt and reach steering motors are completely dead, (fuses are fine).
Troubleshooting so far:
I've tested the seat memory switch on it's own and all buttons are working when pressed according to the multimeter it is perfect.
I've reset the cars computer (ie disconnected battery)
Then ran the seats to their full extents however there is no 'beep'
Anyone had this problem before? Is there anything you think I should test/check next? Or is it not working because the steering motors are dead?
Cheers

When you set the seat position are you holding down the set button and a number at the same time?
As for the steering wheel position motors not working, it could be a few things. Being so old now they jam up on the threaded rods with out any lube. My telescoping function had failed because it was sieved so I lubed it up. I had some over current faults in the corresponding ECU so it stopped trying to drive that motor. My motor was fine in my end. I cleared the fault and plug the motor back in. The telespoping motor is quite easy to get to.
To properly diagnose these faults, I highly suggest getting a Techstream cable and software from eBay. Should be around 30 bucks here in Oz. This will certainly help diagnose the issues - it’s a very powerful tool for Toyota’s and Lexus cars.
Disconnecting the battery doesn’t really do much. There are 30 odd ECUs in the car and only Techstream can access them to find out what is going on.
