Air shock question
2003 Celsior (UL)
I have a right rear air shock that doesnt extend fully when I lower and raise the car.
it moves like an inch from setting to setting. Rest of the car raises without issue.
is there a fix for only slight movement? Or is it new shock time?
tia!

I would plug in TechStream and command that one shock to rise as much as possible to see if it goes any further. TechStream will also tell you what each of the 4 height sensors reports - perhaps that one corner's sensor is reporting incorrect values. Maybe even the opposite corner (front left) sensor or calibration is incorrect.
If there is a leak, the shock would eventually deflate, maybe after sitting still for a few weeks with the engine off if the leak is really small. If the leak is in the line, the line can be replaced. If the leak is in the shock, then you'll need a new shock. Best to diagnose properly before throwing money at parts.

You can get a cable from China on eBay for $30, but the software that comes with it may be loaded with viruses and to use it safely, you'll need to setup a laptop with a virtual OS environment. Or you can get a Mongoose system for $200-500. Actual TechStream costs $1000-2000 but I've heard it works a lot faster and allows you to do a few functions that the $30 cable isn't physically capable of doing, due to a different processing chip and wiring configuration.
You could also just take your car to a Toyota dealership, any Toyota dealership can read the outputs from the air suspension system, it does not need to be a Lexus dealership. Or any independent shop who says they specialize in Toyota or Lexus will surely have a working TechStream setup.
