Default Gas tank leak

discovered a leak in the tank right by the filler neck,..(a bad spot for salt to lay in there),..I patched it with Permatex patch kit with a brush on a stick,..cause you can't get in there....hoping it holds....anyone else have a leak in this spot?

Did the leak cause a CEL to come on? Curious if an EVAP or any other code would be thrown, or if this leak can happen without any notification from the dash or Techstream.

BUMP! Has anyone successfully patched this area where it holds for awhile? I have been smelling a hint of gasoline from time to time near my old 02LS after fill-up... Blamed it on nearby containers and things until today. Its leaking fuel, looks to be from near filler neck area. I will obviously confirm but assuming it needs a tank. Not one in my state, used or new. No aftermarket apparently? Lexus wants nearly $1,000. At this point, will probably hold out for a used tank + shipping from a totaled southern car, REALLY don't want to scrap a great (getting rusty) car over this. Suggestions?

Unless you are sure of the leak, you could try replacing the fuel cap gasket or the whole fuel cap and see if that solves it.

Physically leaking fuel near or out of tank. 100% positive its not the fuel cap. Does not look to be coming from the filler neck. Rust belt car.

Rust belt owners should keep these numbers/parts handy:

Fuel tank to filler pipe hose (77201-50080 / 77213-50020)
Clip for the LH breather pipe on the filler pipe (2 x 96132-51300)
Inside clip for the RH breather pipe on the filler pipe (90467-12056)
Outside clip for the RH breather pipe on the filler pipe (96132-51100)
Fuel tank cap gasket (77316-16010)
Fuel tank cap (77300-53010)
VALVE ASSY, FUEL TANK OVER FILL CHECK (77390-50020)
GASKET, FUEL TANK OVER FILL CHECK VALVE (77177-33010)
