Default Torn perforated leather

Took this to a local upholstery shop, they said it can’t be repaired since it’s perforated.
quote is $490 to recover which I thought was high. OEM part is $1400.
any other options??

I have the same issue with my seat. I went to several shops but the perforate did not match the other seats. So my options were to either purchase oem bottom seat from a dealer($1200) or reupholster all the seats so they match. For the meantime time I am putting clazzio covers for now. They look and feel oem without the crazy price tag.

Not sure. No one ever sits there, although I do throw my bag there everyday. And it sits outside in the San Diego sun, albeit with tinted windows and a sun visor up, at all times. I guess that’s what happens eventually to a 15 year old car.

Look for a used seat maybe? I've seen them go for decent prices on ebay at times, could use the whole search or just swap out the bits you need

Yeah there’s loads of passenger seat bottoms on eBay which works out for you. Never see any drivers seats though

You can try glue it from underneath using a patch twice the size before spending money .

I did that with my seat... put a patch then glued it. I didn't do a good job with the glue. It was hard to see because the glue was clear. Lmao! After driving with jeans...the glue turned blue/black

You didn't remove the covers you did squeeze the patch thru the hole, correct ?

For a quick job i guess its ok , but for a nicer job removing the seat cover it's the way to go . You can apply the patch and let it dry under weight .

Although a smaller hole I had my driver seat repaired (purchased vehicle used). It was successfully fixed and at what I consider an excellent price. I took it to a customizing/detailing shop that has an upholstery/leather specialist.

He took the seat apart, removed the back cover, replaced the two damaged panels with as close a grain match as they could find, then redyed the seat. $350 Can, $250 US. A one-day job. For what it's worth I think that $490 to replace a much larger section of leather and make sure that everything is matched up (colour) is a good deal: certainly a LOT less costly than replacing the seat!

Thx everyone. I have been looking on eBay and haven’t found any passenger seat black bottoms in decent condition. From what I can tell the seat bottoms are actually different between the various trim specs - i.e., mine is UL and there is a diff seat bottom that somehow connects to the rear seat cooling (it says) - so I guess I’d have to skin it (a non exact match) and put it on my seat bottom. This is too complicated and making me depressed and wanting a new car. But I love my old LS lol.

Maybe i’ll end up going the upholstery shop route even though it won’t really match, I’m probably the only person that could tell at first glance. Sure would be cheaper than buying a new car.... I keep saying that to myself every time I go to fix something on this car though and it’s adding up!
