Default 17X7.5 or 17X8 Rim?

I'm looking to pick up some 17" rims from an '07 IS 250 which, according to the great info here, will bolt right onto my '05 LS without any fiddling around. The IS rims are 8" wide while the OE LS rims are a bit narrower at 7.5". I'm planning to run the recommended 225/55-17 tires on the IS rims. I've done some reading but can't quite figure out what sort of impact the half inch difference in rim width will make, if any. Would I be wiser to wait it out until some used OE 17" LS rims become available? Thanks for your guidance and suggestions.

To start, they're wheels, not rims. A "rim" is only a certain part of a wheel.
As for handling? You'd probably not notice at all. Honestly, unless you step up to a wider maybe... 9 inch you wouldn't notice.
Is there any reason why you're looking for new wheels?

Thanks for your response. Our 430 presently has 18" wheels. Our 400 has 16" wheels. We much prefer the "softer" ride of the 16" wheels. I thought the 17" wheels would be a good compromise on the 430.

Thanks, Romanova. I understand that +45mm is ideal.
