Default Need advice- 2006 LS 430 jerks when stopping and new ECM

I have a 2006 LS 430 with about 200k miles. Initially, at times, the check engine, VSC and TRAC light would come on at the same time. I took it to the mechanic and he cleaned the throttle body and it looked like the problem was solved. Fast forward now, the same issue occurs but now the car jerks when coming to a stop. I was told I need a new ECM. I spoke with someone who rebuilds ECMs and he said he as not heard of 2006s having any issues with ECMs. He suggested other possible solutions before purchasing an ECM. Has anyone else had this issue or know what the issue could be? If I do I have to purchase a ECM, any suggestions on reputable companies?

There is a thread on here somehwere where some people have had their Transmission Control Computer re-soldered. It's like $150 to have it done and it may solve your problem with rough downshifts

There's a couple of threads of where people sent their ecm to sia electronics to get repaired. For hard down shifting issue

are you sure the vvt solenoids aren't the cause? those cause exactly those symptoms with mine - rough idle, check engine and the vsc off.

do you have an elm327/obd reader and app to read the computers mind?

Jerking when coming to a stop definitely sounds more like it’s strictly a transmission issue. Here’s a post of mine from last year relevant to your issue:

I took my '04 to my dealer and paid the $182 to have them flash the ECU for this shortly after buying the car. Copied straight from the email from them - "Performed TSIB TC006-04 ECM Calibration: Shifting Enhancement, recalibrated ECM and ECT control modules". It completely changes the shift points of both regular mode operation as well as when you hit the "ECT Power" button on the dash. It wasn't shifting terribly by any means before the recalibration, but it definitely made a big improvement afterwards... drives like a different car, in a good way.
It’s strictly a software (firmware really) update. I’ve never heard about anyone having any physical electronic components soldered in our TCMs before.

And I highly doubt you will need to replace your ECM but if you did, I really don’t think it’s wise to go aftermarket. These cars are very picky about even simple electronic components like plugs and wires, much less an ECM. I think I remember reading that there is a company or two out there that you can mail it off to so they can remanufacture it.

Interesting, my 05 LS430 sometimes doesn't shift that smoothly, perhaps a calibration would help.

May give my local lexus dealer a call and see what they say.

Thanks for the info!

And so my 04 LS430-UL transmission went into a hard downshift mode, VCS and Check eng light along with an inop radar cruise.

My indie replaced the PO756 Shift B sol and now everything seems better, except he also cleared the ECM, He said and that my car would have to re calibrate to re learn my driving habits?
Should take about 10 drive cycles and he said IF I drive hard then the transmission is going to learn that habit and be more app to shift harder?

Anyone? Sound right?

And I just thought what is up with calibrating your Lexus anyways. So when you bought a brand new Lexus, did it come with a caution that the way it was driving would eventually be different after the ECU adapts to you? Just curious and was thinking, huh?
