Default I was lost but I have found redemption.....

New to the forum but long time creeper. I have always been a lexus fan my first being a 1993 LS400 when I was 22 years old with 220K on it. I was blown away then with how awesome it rode and it didnt give me an ounce of problems. Sold it to an attorney who drove it for another 3 years. Being a car guy and often switching things up I later bought a green 99 LS 400 with 120k and loved that one as well. Fast forward now at the ripe age of 42, I recently made a big mistake. I bought a car I always loved growing up and it was a 2001 bmw 740iL (see pictures). I worked on it for 8 months putting money into it that never ended and as the oil leaks got larger, my patience grew smaller. Once I got it somewhat reliable and on the rode I couldn't bear the way it rode and the rough sounds that was made. The steering was stiff and after driving a friends I realized it was a characteristic of bmw. Got rid of it. Quick. Sold it two weeks ago and poor kid overheated it one hour after buying it. I had been looking at getting another LS and found this one in Connecticut for 3800. Needed a new strut and he claims timing was done. Picked it up two weeks ago, fixed the strut, and changed the timing belt since no receipts could be produced from the dealer(didnt want to risk it). It needed the rear bumper to be painted as well. After putting 800 bucks for the strut and timing belt to be done I am soooo happy with this car. I can't even believe the bmw and the LS430 were built in the same year. Cant compare the two. One problem though....I still was getting small shaking on the steering wheel once I get up to 60mph. Thought it was tire balancing or alignment. Got that fixed. Then the tire guy showed me that I have a bent rim and that is the source of the problem. I don't care for these aftermarket rims so now I need to find some stock ones and my car will be complete. Anyone selling stock rims let me know. I am now grinning once again while driving. Glad to be back.

hahaha I was about to congratulate you on the sweet 740! In it's time that was a very sweet car. I remember this sales guy picking me up and when I complemented him, he said anybody can afford to buy this car, not many can afford to maintain it. At the time I did not own a BMW myself. Congrats on the new UL!

I'm not kidding some day I'm getting a '14+ S550. Might be all talk today, but not in a few years. My buddy keeps egging me on cracking all kinds of jokes about a sitcom and seeing america by flatbed, teach him a lesson when my fender says V8 biturbo

167k on the mileage. Love this thing. As far as the 740iL....piece of junk. As far as the s550.....bad to the bone. I want one too.
