Question on the fence about switching to Sport from UL

I know this has probably been beaten to death, but I would love some input from someone who has swapped out their UL air suspension for stock Sport suspension... do you regret it? is the ride really THAT much worse? I have a bad rear shock and i totally can't afford to go back to stock air, so OEM sport is really the only cheap option i can think of (2004 LS430 UL on OEM 17")

OEM sport will set you back about $1500+ for parts, if it was me I would look at a good set of coilovers (you can set them to regular height if you dont want a drop), that would save you at least $500

I did RSR Down springs for $250 and OEM Sport struts for just under $500. I can't speak to the difference between air and Sport, but I came from 126K on stock springs and struts, and the difference has been wonderful. Very similar ride feel, but with far more control in the corners. The one inch drop improved (for me) the overall appearance as well.

I'm running a 2004 UL on Sport suspension. It was previously owned by a friend who did the swap pre-emptively, so I really don't know any better. I regularly drive it alongside an '09 LS 460 with factory air, and I'd argue that the two cars ride very similarly. I wouldn't ever see myself going back to stock air on this car.
