Default Rear sunshades all the time?

Still sweltering hot in Atlanta, and since I bought my 06 UL a few months ago, I've left the rear window and manual side shades up, to try and reduce the amount of heat that builds up in my car during the day, since I'm stuck with outdoor parking at work. Any drawbacks to leaving the shades up all the time?

I keep mine up all the time because we have had temps all summer in the hi '90s to as high as 103. I also crack the moon roof an inch or so as well. So far, no problems. Oh, I also put a sun shield in the front window as well and always park with the rear facing the west. Now we are starting to get some cool weather so I don't need any of that.

If your car is in the sun all day, tinted windows (doesnt need to be dark, but to block the uv) and a front sunshade will do wonders to preserve the life of your interior

Front sun shade is a must, especially with the wood steering wheel here in SoCal.

I usually leave my rear shade up, but I ALWAYS put it down when I have the windows down. The circulating air can detach the top where it clips into the ceiling.

I got heat blocking tint on my car, and it made a literal night-and-day difference in interior comfort in the heat

I leave my rear shade up all day, paired with a Cover Craft Sunshade for the front windshield as well. Not sure if the rear shade up makes a difference, but I will take whatever I can get here in Phoenix.

Im in Atlanta as well. Mine stays up for probably 10months out of the year and have had the car for six years and no problems with it. I like having it up at night since it helps block people with bright headlights.

We leave the shade up in the rear all the time. It's nice when I pick up my parents and they sit in the rear. Keeps the sun off them while they ride.

I leave mine up as much as possible, helps a TINY bit at night with the horrible self "dimming" rear view mirror

I did see an old post someone was like "is it snobby to raise the visor" or some ****e....like wtf? only time I'd lower it is if I got pulled over, anything to make a cop at ease is a good idea XD

My only real concern is how long does the material last in the sun? Probably not something worthy of worry though I would LOVE to replace it with something with smaller holes to block out even more light though....I'm sure that would be easy to do XD *sarcasm

Thanks for all the responses, I guess I'll contiue to leave them up. I do have tinted windows, and do use a sunshade in the front, so I guess that's as good as it gets, when stuck parking outside.
