2005 LS430 Transmission Control Module not repairable!!! HELP!

My dad's approach would be this way. The cost of the car, plus $3300, is sunk. How much more before scrapping it? Let's say the car cost $5k, and another $3300, now OP is down $8300 and has a car that wont shift properly. imho it's close to the point of no return.
On the other hand, that $3300 seemed to have come with an assurance. Not sure I understand why they're not making good, they took the money, offered a lifetime warranty, but say even though we installed a transmission with a lifetime warranty, we're gonna say it's a specfic thing and not covered anymore.
The other info is 3 years and 6 visits, at what point does one cut bait.
