Regardless of brand label on the battery case only 2-3 factories that still actually exist and manufacture batteries in the US. The two largest battery makers are Johnson and Exide each manufacturing batteries for dozens of private brands in the same factory, with same materials, and on the same line. All batteries made in one of these US factories are virtually identical internally. Batteries marketed as Premium at a higher cost are basically same as mid-cost battery but with inbuilt priced warranty for replacement if they fail.
The dirty little secret is that the most significant indicator of battery quality and potential longevity for batteries is how much it weighs in comparison to other brand's battery in that specific group designation. Everything else is primarily marketing hype.
Get what ever battery is priced well and has at least a full 36-40 month full replacement warranty. The extended pro-rated warranties on supposedly premium batteries is generally worthless based on the fine print. You get some dollar credit for the extended warranty months but it's usually against full retail cost so generally you lose money using a prorated battery warranty.
Avoid Chinese made batteries like the plague for as long as you can but the day may be coming when that may be the only source.

My Costco battery is now over 37 mos. old. Go out today at 23F, starts with single crank.
Personally, I'm sold on Costco batteries. We had bad luck with the battery recommended by CR for my wife's, a Bosch Premium. First failed in a year. Second was free, failed in about 10 mos. Rather than get a 3rd free one, I got her a Costco for around $115. That's now a year old and no issues.
About to put a Costco into my mom's 2006 TSX. I'm a believer!
p.s. they don't make one for the BMW, too bad.
