Work to be done on this car was mentioned here. It is the same work that any 04 with 150k on the dial will need in its future. Currently nothing broken and just passed inspection last week. I thought it needed a radiator but the shop pressure tested and couldnt get her to leak but thats the only thing I would still suggest if I was being upfront. In the future from reading on this forum I am certain that she will need suspension parts such as struts and replacing rubber parts........that said she is smooth as silk and doesnt make any clunking or rattling noises.

Default I moved on, and had a different budget.....

I love cars and thus every couple of years I get the itch Even though I love my car I am considering making a move within the Lexus family. From what I understand the 04 to 06 LS430 is the most reliable car Lexus has ever made.....or close second to the LS400 not sure. If I can buy another Lexus with great reliability, great looks, but is a bit more fun to drive I might make the move. The 2 or 3 models that grab my eye are the LS460, GS300 or 350, ES350. I wouldnt mind a 6 cyl if it was more " bullet proof " that said an 8 banger works for me if its the way to go. Since this car will be a garage queen I have a budget for my cruiser of around 11k. I know many of you guys on the forum have made the move and some have come back to the 430. I would appreciate some of your opinions so I can narrow in on my next Lexus cruiser.
Thanks
I loved my 06 LS430 ML, and drove it for eleven plus years as a daily driver. That being said, I was able to put myself in a position to have two cars again. I purchased a new GSF, and a Tundra Platinum 4X4.
Both make me smile, and neither have disappointed me.

That would be a different story. There is nothing wrong with the car then. It looks nice. Someone may reach for such a nice looking car which has nothing wrong. But, you may want to bite your tongue, or your lip, when showing the car when to comes to your expectations of future costs for maintenance and repair. Some may infer that there is something wrong with it now. You should have no problem selling it....

My daily is a plug in hybrid, not Lexus but it's a good car and I use no fuel for my daily commute. You would be amazed how nice it is not visiting the gas station really is. The weekender is an 06 SC430. Lots of fun and really a lovely machine. They hold their value pretty well. Good luck on your search.

After shopping around I ended up with the Kia Optima EX with the tech package. Same car as the Hyundai Sonata but slightly different styling. I don't think they were selling that great and I picked up a year end deal. Like $13k off msrp (around 42k) with the government rebate. I have had it for 2 years and it been a great car. It will do around 30 miles electric alone and then switches to hybrid mode. Cost about 65 cents in electricity to recharge the battery and you can also recharge the battery with the engine if you desire. It's been a good car no complaints.

If your commute round-trip is within the 30 - 50 mile mark or so it's ideal. The tradeoff is as a hybrid it gets worse mileage vs a normal hybrid as the batteries are heavy. In hybrid mode I get around 40 mpg. Which is still good but not as good as some of the competition. Overall, I tank average about 85 MPG. $28 in gas usually last me 3 - 4 weeks.

Good to see some of the same ole familiar names here, Thanks for the reply LAVRISHEVO. I have been told by many that the SC would be a great second car. I really want to drive one. I think they look great with the right wheel and color. Cant imagine that small car with the big V8 in it.

The SC happens to be an example of a Lexus model actually holding it's own in value and starting to appreciate as well for good examples. This is a car that was sitting on showroom floors collecting dust. Amazing!

It's still a fairly heavy car but it lot of fun to drive. It will do 60 mph in 5.5 seconds or so if you launch correctly. Yes, their value is surprisingly high. My 06 with 64k miles was valued at almost $20k. The best modifications IMO, upgraded sway bars, coil overs, new wheels, and headers / exhaust. I have not tackled these yet as I have only had mine for about 5 months now. Obviously design preferences are personal but I think it's a pretty sexy vehicle. You get a lot of compliments. Lowered a little and nice wheels they look fantastic. I would look for an 06+ if you are interested.
