Default 06 LS430 in a crash yesterday - opinions if totaled

Unfortunately our 2006 LS430 was in a front-to-rear crash yesterday. It is a low mileage car, 78,000 miles, and was in great condition pre-accident. Do you think insurance will deem it totaled? It has had no prior crashes, best I know.

Clearly it needs a bumper cover, hood, grille and passenger side front headlight. I'm guessing the fenders are at least a little bit bowed because the panel gap between the A pillar and the top of the fenders looks uneven. Edit: no airbags deployed.

Shame.

The airbags did not go off, right? Silver is really difficult to match, especially on an older car. It could go either way and may come down to whether you want to keep it.

It doesn’t take much to total our cars. Between only what is observed ( hood, headlight, bumper, fender) and not getting into what isn’t seen, unfortunately and more than likely I’d start looking for another car. Too bad with such a clean low mileage LS. Good luck

Seriously, I'd fix it. Looks like a decent car.

You may need to buy it from the Insurance Company and then find the parts. Take it somewhere and get a bid. I've done nearly that much damage when my wife backed into my truck. That was $1200. I just found the parts on E-Bay and took them to the shop.

Needs the bumper cover and crash parts underneath (They should all come together), Passenger headlight assembly (E-Bay), Hood and maybe a few other things. The passenger side fender looks fine (the gap between the fender and door looks normal ). May be able to straighten the hood if you find the right person.

Probably buy the car for less than 3 grand (If they call it a total). Another 3 grand plus for repairs and paint and you'll have an excellent driver.

Shame.
Your adjuster will decide, but you may wish to both tell the shop and the adjuster that you would like it repaired if possible. If deemed total loss, may wish to consider asking adjuster to replace the LS 430 with a similar vehicle, find one, then ask for purchase of replacement, if cash offered is low. If cash settlement is generous, take it. Likely car may be sent to salvage auction, so you may wish to inquire if you have any interest in buying and repairing. if you do so, likely you may get a salvage title....

If the is any hidden damage, like the frame rail being pushed or kinked definitely totaled. I'm thinking it will be totaled based on the damage from the pictures, at least 10K.

I got an estimate from place insurance told me to go. 10,500 and car worth only 7,500. Then they sent me a check for 3,750 and I get other half when I surrender keys and title. offer to pay for rental as car is repaired withdrawn. I found a local shop to make car repairs for 3,300. but I had to pay for rental for 2 weeks and car has been a shell of what it was. Insurance company have all the laws on their side from crooked politicians and lobbiests. you might be able to part it out but need for these car parts are severly limited. good luck
Thanks. I'm a board certified personal injury attorney so I can handle insurance companies. But I'm not a mechanic or body shop man, so no real idea if the car is a likely total or not. I figured it would be close.

Unfortunately the car was deemed a total loss. Our insurance company valued it at around $11,500. They valued the salvage at around $5,000 which is too high for me to entertain keeping it and trying to fix it up.

If I put the repair documentation in the car for the two replacement front cats, Y-pipe, new battery and replacement trunk shocks, Copart will just chuck it out. So I will list the VIN here (and cut and paste it a few times) on the off chance a subsequent owner buys it in a salvage auction and runs a VIN search on Google. I'd be happy to forward copies of the receipts for the work done. Hopefully somebody picks this wonderful car up at a good price and gets it back on the road.VIN JTHBN36F765029688 2006 Lexus LS430

Sorry you lost your car but glad you're ok.

Good luck with your insurance company .... they enjoyed collecting your yearly premiums, but watch them do their best to pay you as little as possible!
